Tempo & Repeat Modes

What is BPM?

BPM stands for beats per minute. It measures how fast a metronome clicks:

BPM Meaning
60 1 click per second
120 2 clicks per second
180 3 clicks per second

SpoPulse lets you set BPM from 1 to 1000.

What is the difference between BPM and GPM?

In group modes, one group equals one full pass of the loop. A GPM of 60 means one full loop per second.

What repeat modes does SpoPulse offer?

Mode Behaviour
Number of beats Plays a fixed number of beats, then stops
Duration Plays for a fixed number of seconds, then stops
Beat as group One beat = one full loop. BPM becomes loops per minute
Duration as group Same as beat as group, but stops after a fixed time

What happens in infinite mode?

Infinite mode is active when there is exactly one BPM point. The metronome plays your loop indefinitely and does not stop on its own. You end the run by pressing Stop.

Infinite mode is useful for:

How do I set up a tempo ramp?

Open BPM points and click Add BPM point. Each BPM point is a tempo marker. With two or more points, the tempo changes smoothly between them over the length you specify.

The field between two BPM points decides how long the transition takes. Its unit follows the current repeat mode: beats, seconds, or groups.

Loop & Sounds

How do I add sounds to the loop?

Under Sounds:

  1. Click a sound's name to add it to the loop.
  2. Click it again to remove it.
  3. The button highlights when the sound is in the loop.

You can add as many sounds as you want, in any combination.

How do I preview a sound?

Click the ▶ number on the left of a sound to hear it. The preview plays without adding the sound to the loop.

How do I reorder the loop?

The order of the loop determines the sequence in which sounds play.

Does SpoPulse let me use my own sounds?

No. SpoPulse uses a built-in library of sounds provided by the site. You can choose any sound from the library, preview it, and add it to the loop, but you cannot upload your own audio files.

What does the percentage field on each loop item mean?

The percentage field appears in group modes. It sets the position of each sound inside the group window:

By default, the percentages split evenly across all sounds in the loop.

Warning: If the percentages add up to more than 100%, a warning appears and the extra sounds fire at the end of the group window. Make sure they add up to exactly 100%.

Markers

What are markers?

Markers are extra events you can add to a run. There are two types:

Markers are separate from the loop and do not affect the running beat count.

What does the First trigger mean?

First fires the marker once at the chosen position, counted from the beginning of the run. The position depends on the current repeat mode: a beat number, a second, or a group number.

What does the Last trigger mean?

Last fires the marker once, at a position counted from the end of the run. A Last value of 3 in beat mode fires 3 beats before the run ends.

What does the Each trigger mean?

Each fires the marker repeatedly, at every multiple of the chosen value. An Each value of 5 in beat mode fires at beat 5, beat 10, beat 15, and so on.

What units do marker values use?

Repeat mode Marker unit
Number of beats Beats
Duration Seconds
Beat as group Groups
Duration as group Groups

The same marker fires at different real times depending on the mode.

Can marker values use percentages?

Yes. Each marker has a percentage checkbox:

Percentages are not available in infinite mode because there is no total length.

How does a wait marker work?

A wait marker pauses the run for a specified number of seconds. Waits accept two formats:

Format Example Meaning
Seconds 90 90 seconds
Minutes-seconds 1-30 1 minute 30 seconds

The wait starts after the unit at which the marker is placed has played, and the run resumes automatically when it finishes.

Does a wait marker affect the total run length in duration mode?

No. In duration mode, the target duration counts working time only, not wait time. A 60-second run with a 10-second wait plays for 70 seconds of real time but still delivers 60 seconds of beats.

Sharing

How do I generate a share link?

Open the Share section:

  1. Click Generate share link.
  2. The URL appears in the text field.
  3. Click Copy to copy it to your clipboard.

Anyone who opens the link sees the same setup.

What is stored in a share link?

Setting Stored?
Loop sounds (by name) Yes
Loop percentages Yes
BPM points Yes
Repeat mode Yes
Start and end sounds Yes
Start delay Yes
Theme Yes
Animation Yes
Text size Yes
Wake-lock preference Yes
Markers Yes
Audio files No

Will a share link still work if sound names change?

A share link references sounds by name. If a sound is renamed or removed, that entry is dropped when the link opens, and the rest of the setup still loads. As long as the name stays the same, the link works indefinitely.

Playback

How do I start and stop the metronome?

Press Ready to open the player. Inside the modal:

Button Action
Start Begin the run
Pause Freeze the run; becomes Resume
Resume Continue from where you paused
Stop Reset the run and keep the modal open
Close Stop everything and dismiss the modal

What does Pause do?

Pause freezes the run at the current position:

What does Stop do?

Stop ends the run and resets the counters. The modal stays open, and the last run's summary remains visible until you press Start again or Close.

What does Close do?

Close ends the run, silences everything, and dismisses the player modal. Closing stops any playing audio immediately, including the end sound.

How accurate is the timing?

SpoPulse uses the Web Audio API for scheduling:

Personalization

How do I change the theme?

Open Settings → Theme and pick from nine options:

Your choice is saved in your browser.

How do I change the text size?

Open Settings → Text size and pick a size from Small to XX Large. The entire interface scales, including the player modal.

What is the beat animation?

A visual effect that plays on each beat. Choose from:

None · Pulse · Ripple · Bounce · Equalizer · Glow · Rotate · Wobble

Each sound has its own animation element, and the animation's peak lands exactly when that sound plays.

Does SpoPulse keep the screen awake?

Yes, if you enable Keep screen awake in Settings. SpoPulse uses the browser's Wake Lock API to prevent the screen from dimming while the player is open.

What does fullscreen mode do?

Fullscreen makes the browser go edge-to-edge. Enable it from Settings. Your choice is remembered.

Does SpoPulse support other languages?

Yes. SpoPulse is translated into more than sixteen languages. Use the globe icon at the top right of the page to switch languages.

Privacy & Data

Does SpoPulse record or store my data?

No. SpoPulse:

Nothing is uploaded, tracked, or analyzed.

Is my workout data stored anywhere?

No. SpoPulse does not store workout history, run durations, or any other performance data. Each run is transient and disappears when you press Stop or Close.

Can I use SpoPulse without an internet connection?

Yes. After the page and its sounds load once, SpoPulse works offline. The metronome engine runs locally, and the sounds are already cached. You can close the tab, turn off Wi-Fi, and reopen the page to keep using it as long as the browser keeps the cache.
